Bassi Fort

Bassi Fort is a testimony of the glorious past of the Chundawat clan and was constructed in the 16th century by Thakur Jaimal of the Sisodia dynasty. He was the cousin of Maharana Pratap, who is popularly known as the founder of the Bassi principality. This fort of Mewar Nobles still stands strongly, telling the tales of its glorious past.


The six ancestors of the present head of the Chaudawat family, Rawat Sahib Kesari Singh, laid down their lives in defending the celebrated Chittogarh Fort. However, today the palace has been converted into a beautiful heritage hotel. The fort is nestled in the midst of the hills and is surrounded by lush green nature.


The restored palace still preserves its old world charm, décor and grandeur along with the essentials of comfort and modern amenities. The towering gates, domes, arches, corridors and rooms give a reflection of the Royal Magnificence of the past and the era of graciousness. The fort has 16 well equipped rooms. The rooms here are spacious with Jharokhas, attached with running hot and cold water and the rooms are donned with the royal fixtures and fittings.


The palace is a perfect retreat for the visitors who stay here as the morning starts with the humming sounds of the birds, that wakes up from the sweet sleep and renders you to take a clean breath of air in this serene ambience. While looking outside from your windowpane, you can also spot peacocks dancing to the rhythm of morning breeze in the palace gardens.


Then the renowned delicacies of the palace ranges to different varieties, that will even compel you to lick your fingers to have the last taste.


Here in the long stretched gardens with the cascading waterfalls, you can also avail the opportunity to have a sight of the most sacred tree “KALP VRAKSHA”. It is believed that a wish wished here, comes true.


There is a sanctuary which adjoins the fort and is famous for housing various wildlife species such as panthers, wild-boars, antelope, deer and birds. Apart from Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary, the other attractions in the area are the Orai and Bassi Lakes, which provide option for boating and exploring the entire Vindyachal Range.


To can indulge in a number of activities around the fort such as watching, boating, horse riding, trekking and village safari. You can also stay in lovely tents.
