Asirgarh Fort, also known as Asigarh Qila is a celebrated Indian hill fortress, which is positioned in the Satpura Range, which is just at a distance of about 20 km from the north of the city of Burhanpur and forms a part of the district of Burhanpur in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.


The fort is elevated at an altitude of 259.1 m high from the base and 701 m above MSL. Popularly known as the “Gateway to southern India” from the medieval period, the fort consists of three separate lines of structure which are named as Asirgarh proper (Upper most part), Kamargarh and Malaygarh. The fort also has other attractions in its area like the Jami Masjid along with a Hindu Temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva, makes other attraction for it architectural masterpieces.


In its close proximity, there is also another temple which is locally known as Asha mandir, which is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Asha Devi. The temple stands on the hills of the very village. Then there are other attractions in the vicinity of the fort such as the tomb of Shah Nomani Asiri, who is considered a saint and a believer of Sufism. Then, there is Moti Mahal, which is a burial place of Moti Begum, beloved of Shah Jahan, which is situated in the left side of the fort, on the bank of the Pandhar River.
