Teej is a monsoon festival celebrated in the months of July – August is dedicated to the Lord Shiva and Parvati.  On the day, married women pray for a happy and long married life. The festival celebrated in many parts of the country is particularly popular in Jaipur city of Rajasthan state in India.


Large number of people visits the Jaipur city to celebrate this colorful festival. Every year “Teej Maata Ki Savari”, the historic procession of the festival is taken out on the main roads of Jaipur. The Palanquin of Goddess Parvati is carried out by 8 men dressed in red color giving chance to everybody to participate in the procession of Goddess Parvati. A huge crowd of people follows the Palanquin to grab the offerings. Also, on the day all the women dress their best wearing colorful Sari and traditional jewelry. The rituals allow the women to pamper and enjoy themselves, to feast, to dress in the best of cloths, jewelry and applying mehandi in their palms.


The four day Teej festival is organized by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation that attracts tourists from various parts of the world. The festival involves various entertaining activities organized for everyone. Teej is the festival of swings that are decorated with flowers and hung from trees. Young girls and women get dressed in green clothes and sing songs to welcome the coming monsoon. The Teej idol is covered with a canopy.The festival mainly includes singing and dancing while praising Goddess Parvati.This amazing festival is must visit for everyone.
