The Elephant Festival is an interesting festival is celebrated in the month of Phagun (March) on the eve of Holi, the festival of colors in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan. The festival held at the Jaipur Chaugan or polo field get set with elephants, dancers, musicians and visitors from all over the world. <p >As the name suggests various elephant events are organized at the Elephant festival. The mahavats decorate their elephants with bright colors, jhools (saddle cloth) and heavy jewelry. Female elephants are made to wear payals or anklets in which they look very beautiful. The best decorated elephant is also prized at the show. Other elephant events at the festival include the Elephant race, the tug-of-war between Elephant and 19 men & women. The strangest thing at the fair is that the most of the elephants at the fair are female. <p >The game of polo is the highlight of the Elephant Festival in Jaipur where two different teams dressed in saffron and red turbans try to score goals with long sticks and a plastic football. And then the tourists are allowed to mount the elephants and play holi. The Elephant Festival is one the major attraction for the tourists visiting the Indian state of Rajasthan ad a must visit place for everyone.
