Camel Festival is an annual event organized by Department of Tourism of the government of Rajasthan in the Bikaner city, Rajasthan, India. This colorful festival attracts large number of people from all over the country. The festival is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm.Bikaner city in Rajasthan is also the camel capital of the country with the largest Camel Research and breeding farm located here. The lively camel festival of Bikaner is one of the reasons for increase in the tourists at the place. Bikaner city falls in the Thar Desert area of Rajasthan. Camel is the important part of desert life from historic times. Thus, the camel festival is celebrated to showcase the usefulness and importance of the animal maintaining the cultural heritage of the city.The festival is organized in the month of January keeping in mind the hot weather in summers. For complete two days of the festival, the whole Bikaner city gets bustled keeping the high spirit of the festival.  Camel races, camel procession, camel dances, tug-of-war, competitions for the best attired camel and many other unusual events are organized during the festival. Apart from these, the fair also hosts few stalls selling the traditional crafts and decorating items that are visited by tourist at large. Folk artist, singers and dancers also perform at the festival, showcasing the vast Rajasthani culture.Sweets made from camel milk are also display at sale for the visitors. With music and dance performances, food, crafts display and lot more in this festival in the city of Bikaner is a must visit for tourists.
