Magha Mela is the prominent Mela celebrated with immense pleasure in Konark, a famous place in the state of Orissa, India. The festival is celebrated on the 7th day of the bright half of the ‘Magha’ in the months of January – February.  Magha Mela is celebrated at the prayag also called as Triveni, the meeting point of three streams of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.


During the festival, many Indian pilgrims come to take bath in the Chandrabhaga Tirtha. The place is near sea and people come to welcome sun god with prayers in the early morning. The Mela is celebrated from ancient times. It is also said that since the time Lord in the form of Mohini took a jar of nectar ad kept it at Prayaga, the holy men have observed the Magha Mela.  The Brahmins used to take bath there especially at the time of Magha Mela and welcome the sun with their prayers.


The Magha Mela is a colorful festival celebrated the grand way in Konark. The occasion is attended by the people from all over India. The festival is marked by immense pleasure and happiness. People have high spirits in celebrating the festival.
