Mansar Food and Craft Mela is an important fair celebrated in the month of April during Baisakhi by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department. The Mela lasts for 3 days and is celebrated at the beautiful Mansar Lake. The Lake is 62 km from Jammu state in India.


It is one of the best fairs celebrated in India and is also visited by large number of people from all over world. Also, people from the nearby areas and places come to take part in the festival. There are some exquisite items that are available on sale in the fair. The Mela displays the splendid Indian crafts and cuisine. The main aim of Mansar Food and Craft Mela is to preserve the real essence of Jammu. The Mela comprises of various handicraft items such as Walnut Furniture and Artifacts crafted from Walnuts. Other crafted things at the Mela comprises of wall hangings, jewelry boxes, screens and room dividers. Kashmiri shawls, silk carpets and pottery are the other availabilities at the fair. Apart from that, the fair also showcase beautiful lacquered papier mache or nakkashi and painting scenes of hunting, frolicking animals and flowered carpets. These are all some of the major exquisites from Kashmir. Also, Shab deg kashmiri roghan josh, kashmiri gustaba, kashmiri mutanjan and pasande kabab are some of the food items available for the foodies at the fair.
