Jhiri Mela is the annual fair celebrated in the months of October and November to salute the efforts of farmers for practicing farming the whole year. The festival is celebrated with great zeal in Jammu state of India. The festival is a tribute to the sacrifice of Baba Jit Mal, popularly known as Baba Jitto at Shama Chak Jhiri which is about 22 km away from Jammu. He was died at the place when he was cheated by the Kardar of the area. Visiting the fair will let you know the amazing aspects that farmers come across in daily life. Large number of people visits the fair from all over the country during Jhiri Mela to salute the efforts and the sacrifices of the farmer. The Jhiri Mela celebrates innocence, honesty, humility, courage, truthfulness and culture of farmer.


The Jhiri Mela lasts for few days and is an amazing experience for the visitors to know this much about the farmers. The fair includes exhibitions that reflect the various aspects and the contribution in term of types of work that are performed by the farmers in the process of sowing and growing crops. The diverse varieties in the exhibition range from Pottery, vases, utensils and toys to books on Baba jitu. It is really an amazing and different experience visiting the Jhiri Mela in Jammu.
