The Shamla Ji Mela, also, called as kartik poornima fair is one of the famous festivals celebrated in Gujarat in the month of November. People at the festival arrive for the darshan of the deity at Shamla Ji temple. The Shamlaji Temple is a well known temple that hosts a Vaishnav Shrine. The deity at the temple is recognized with various different names including Gadadhar (bearer of the mace) and Shaksi Gopal. People from all over the country especially the adjoining state and coties come to celebrate this Mela. Also, the devotees of all castes and communities including Garasias and Bhils visit the place and have best time celebrating the occasion. The tribal people also come in groups here and recite devotional songs and carries banners of temple and the fair.


The fair is very popular with the tribal people, the Bhils, who idolize Shamlaji, the lord to as “Kalio Bavji”, the dark divinity. The temple is built with beautiful art effects and is [provided with amazing architecture. The craft in the temple provides the glimpse of the place during 11th century. Apart from darshan of the god in the temple, the pilgrims consider to take holy bath in the Meshwo River. Visiting to such a location especially Shamlaji Temple is really a spiritual experience. It provides great relief to your mind and soul.
