The Majuli Festival is commemorated on the banks of the River Luit in Majuli, the river island of Brahmaputra. The festival is a way to showcase the rich art and culture of the state of Assam. This cultural heritage event is held in the month of November.


In the festival, many cultural troupes of Assam take part in the cultural program and events organized during the festival of Majuli. The local artisans get a way to display their art through the products they produce and showcase through exhibitions, on this festival.


The festival paves a way to lot of events for everyone to fit in and take part in the festival. These events are held round the clock, during the festival season, in the city. Along with the cultural troupes of the very state of Assam, the festival is opened to all the traditional and classical troupes from all across India, who take part in the events of the festival and add an additional cultural heritage to the festival.


Seminars are also held with various topics. The festival renders a cultural and a spiritual touch with the congregation of various troupes under the same sky, in the same place is a striking phenomena that attracts the tourists at the island. The local tradition of Assam, which dates back to the 500 years ago, the Satriya culture, is lionized on the occasion.


The site is just at a distance of about 1.5 km from Garamur, which is a sub divisional head quarter of Majuli.
