Id-ul- Fitr is the famous Muslims festival celebrated all over the world. Id-ul- Fitr is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. The day ends the month of fasting and prayer known as Ramadan. Muslims go for prayers, listen to a khutba (sermon) and give zakat al-fitr (food charity) during Id-ul-Fitr.
The celebration is mostly common amongst Muslims. They attend communal prayers and listen to a khutba. Many Muslims may travel far to participate the various activities organized on the day.Some communities prepare for different festivities, such as communal meals or events for children, on this day. Also, zakat al-fitr is given to the poor people on the day. If a Muslim has not given zakat al-fitr during Ramadan then it can given on Eid-al-Fitr. It is consisted of food, such as barley, dates, raisins or wheat flour or it can be money.
Muslim people also prepare festive meals, wear new clothes, visit relatives and give presents or candy to children. Cards are also sent to the dear ones written with “Eid Mubbarak”. Id-ul- Fitr doesn’t happens to be on a particular day therefore there is no fixed holiday on the occasion. However, some places do conduct the day off on the festival.
