Amravati lying in the Indian state of Maharashtra is the seventh most populated city within the state and is also popular for hosting various temples and pilgrimages. The city is erected at an elevation of 343 m and is at a distance of around 156 km from Nagpur. The phrase Amravati literally means the ‘home of immortals’.
The first Municipal Corporation in India was the Amravati Municipal Corporation, which was established in 1983, which has introduced with the privatization of octroi. It also stands as the land of some of the famous personalities who have marked their presence in the field of literature and arts are Gopal Nilkanth Dandekar, Suresh Bhat also known as the Ghazal Samrat and others. The city is also famed for its cultural activities and festivals like Navaratri, Garba, Diwali and Holi.
