Kochi

Kochi, previously known by a name of Cochin, is a part of the Indian state of Kerala. It is also accredited for having one of the main seaports of the country, which is positioned in the district of Ernakulam, at a distance of 220 km towards the north of the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram.


The city is commonly known as the Queen of Arabian Sea, Kochi is regarded as the industrial capital of Kerala. The city is a commercial hub of this flourishing state. Kochi is an emerging centre of information technology, tourism and international trade and also stands as one of the fastest growing second-tier metros in India.


Cochin is also acknowledged as the Gateway of South India. Spanned with the backwaters, the city is encircled with the Arabian Sea in the west and developed region in the east. A great part of the city lies at the sea level along the seashore of around 48 km. The city is sprawled over an area of 94.88 sq km; Kochi is the second largest city of Kerala.
