Bangalore has presently its official name as Bengaluru, stands as the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. The city of Bengaluru derived its name from the Kannada words ‘benda kalluru’, which means the land of boiled beans. It is believed that, Veera Ballara, the king of Hoysala kingdom, once got misplaced during a hunting mission. While strolling in the feilds, he met an old lady who offered him some boiled beans to eat. Just to pay her a tribute, he named the very place, Benda Kalluru. According to some historians the name was derived from the ‘benga’ or ‘ven kai’ tree.

Climate of Bangalore
