Located right in the center of lofty and majestic Himalayas, the city possess a serene effect in the air with the unpolluted river Beas, on whose banks the city lies. Kullu, the state of Himachal Pradesh is also known as the “Valley of Gods”. Recalling its ancient times, the city was popularly known as Kulanthpitha, which literally means the ending point of inhabitable world. The city was formed in the year 1660 by Raja Jagat Singh, who pays a tribute to Lord Rama and dedicate the city to Him.The valley is also associated with epics like Ramayana, Mahabarata and Vishnu Purana. The town is the place of the chief deity in the valley i.e. Raghunathjee. Apart from its pleasant climate, it is also famous for its ancient religious places to visit such as Chandrakhani Pass, The Great Himalayan National Park, Pandoh Dam, Jagannath Devi Temple, Manikaran, Basheshwar Mahadev Temple and Bijli Mahadev Temple.


With its awe-inspiring panoramas, the city is also known for the sports attraction among sports lovers as it conducts its sport activities like trekking, river rafting and mountaineering, paragliding over subterranean mountain, rafting in the deafening crystalline water, or hiking the glaciers and mountain acmes of Himalayas, which also play a major role in attracting tourists to visit the valley.


Climate of Kullu
The valley possesses an alpine type of climate. Summers here are pleasant and enjoyable, heading a way towards really cold winters with dropping its temperature the freezing point. The monsoon commences with the month of July, which remain in the scene till September. In this period, the city can face landslides with intermittent rains.


How to Reach Kullu


Kullu By Air: Bhuntar airport, just 10 kms from Kullu is the nearest airport, with regular flights arriving from Delhi.


Kullu By Rail: The nearest railway terminal is at Jogindernagar, 95 kms from Kullu. The trains arrive from Chandigarh railway terminal, which is 272 kms away.


Kullu By Road: Drive straight away from Shimla, Delhi and other nearby places such as Pathankot, Palampur and Ambala. The main bus stand is located in the Sarvari Bazaar.
