Panchkula

Panchkula is known as the satellite town of Chandigarh. The city comes in the category of one of the planned cities of Haryana. The name of the city was originated from the five irrigation canals, also known as ‘kuls’, and these canals draw water from the mounted Ghagghar and provide its supply in and around the area. Thus, the name is derived as ‘Panch’, meaning five and ‘Kul’, meaning irrigation canals, together forming the land of five irrigation canals.

It is a recently formed city and is the 17th district of Haryana. Himachal Pradesh encloses Panchkula in the northern side, Ambala district in the eastern area, Kurukshetra district in the southern area and Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh in the Western region.  Panchkula, Chandigarh and Mohali altogether these three cities has come to be known as Chandigarh Tri-cities. Tourist sightseeing in Panchkula
Panchkula is the home of the Asia’s largest outdoor landscaped cacti and succulents’ garden. Established by Dr J.S. Sarkaria, the succulents’ garden is thought to be the largest garden in the world.

Other popular attractions of Panchkula are Ramgarh Fort, Mansa Devi Temple, cactus garden, Pinjore gardens, Morni Hills, Nada Sahib, and also this organized town host fairs, twice a year, which commences in the month of March and lasts till April and then it again takes its stage in the month of September and lasts till October.

Climate of Panchkula
The city experiences extreme climatic conditions, similar to that of Haryana. Here, temperatures vary as in winters, it even goes below the zero degree Celsius and when in summers, it even exceeds forty degree Celsius. Thus making its best time for visiting here during the months of February to April, when its temperature is between 18-20° Celsius.

Panchkula by Air: The nearest airport for the city is Chandigarh Airport, which is well connected with, Delhi, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar and Mumbai. The airport is 12 km from the City Centre is well connected by Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air Deccan.

Panchkula by Rail: Panchkula is well-connected railway terminal.

Panchkula by Road: There is a well-developed road transportation service in Panchkula. Buses are available for all the major cities.
