Warangal is also recognized as Orugallu and further Ekasila Nagaram, once had been the capital of Kkatiya Kingdom for over 200 years, stands as the fifth largest city of the Indian state, Andhra Pradesh and the second largest city in the Telangan Region, after Hyderabad. The initial name was originated with the presence of a huge boulder like hillock situated near the Swayambhu Siva Temple. In course of period, it came to be known as “Orugallu”, and finally got its present name, Warangal. The city is sprawled over an area of about 12,846 sq km.


It is a municipal corporation and the administrative headquarters of the district of Warangal. The metropolitan city of Warangal makes up a perfect blend of the three cities such as Warangal, Hanamakonda and Kazipet. The city holds a population of about 0.9 million including the regions of Hanamakonda and Kazipet.


As per the legends the city along with Hanamkonda has close association with the great rulers and their dynasties of the Great Vishnukundins. In the 18th century AD, Warangal, when was known by a name Orukal had been the capital city of the Yadava King of Tuluva.


The city is widely known for its gorgeous lakes, time-honored temples and historical forts, which also marked their presence in the travel dairies of Marco Polo. Climate of Warangal
Summers are very hot and humid; and the city takes a relief on the arrival of the monsoon which ends up by the month of October. Winters here starts with the month of November and remains on the scene till February with pleasant and dry climate. The best time to visit the place is from November till February as the state experiences cool and pleasant climate during this period.
