The beach is stretched with white sands alongside the coconut, mango, jackfruit, and cashew trees on its fringes hiding the hills; Vengurla is located in the district of Sindhudurg of the Indian state of Maharashtra.
In its vicinity the, there are marvelous Vengurla rocks, popularly known by a name of Burnt Island, which is known for its historical importance as once it had been a centre for the trade settlement. The rocks are referred to as the Burnt Islands for the reason as Vengurla was targeted and was burnt twice in the years between 1664 and 1812.
In its close proximity, there are two famous temples including Shri Devi Sateri temple and Rameshwar Mandir. Thickly covered with palm trees, Malvan is a part of the mainland and also holds other attractions such as Sindhudurg Fort and Padmagad Fort. Previously there was an underground tunnel as well adjoining these forts. Like Vengurla, Malvan was also a trading centre.
At present, this place of Malvan is popular for its salt pans and Chinese clay pottery. Also, the place serves with the mouthwatering cuisine which is quite different from the Konkan food. The other excursions in the region are sagareshwar farming research centre, shiroda village, ganapati of redi, mochappa, nevati, sateridevi temple, vithoba temple. Vengurala is at a distance of 514 km away from Mumbai and 200 km from Ratnagiri. Kolhapur is the nearest railhead.
