Calangute Beach

Calangute Beach

Acknowledged as the queen of beaches in Goa, Calangute Beach is the busiest and the most commercial beach in the state of Goa. The beach front is all jam-packed with the foreigners and renders a view of endless rows of side-by-side lounges and over them half-naked foreigners lying for the sun-tan. This stands as the most popular beach in the state, so it is to no doubt that the beach is always over crowded, during both peak and off seasons

The beach is located just at a distance of about 15 km from the state capital, Pannaji and at its end point; there happens to be another beach called Baga Beach. The beach is a perfect destination to soak in the sun with cool breezes and some sprinkles of water. The scintillating silky sands and sapphire sea waters makes it an utter heavenly place.

There are lined up hotels and restaurants for the accommodation and food and in its close proximity, there lies Calangute Village, which has all the basic amenities. The beach also offers recreational activities such as parasailing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, bump rides, banana rides, catamaran sailing and wind surfing. Along with that you can also taste some of the popular delicacies of Goa. With that, in the shopping stalls that are lined up at the fringes of the beach front, you can have articles and handicrafts that reflect the culture of Goa.

Calangute beach stands on the shores of the Arabian Sea in the northern part of the state. The beach is truly a paradise with its shacks and stalls, which are laid in the shades of the palm groves, along with enjoying the nature you can also satisfy your tastebudes with the delicious seafood available in the stalls.

Another attraction at the beach is the famous church St. Alex Church, which attracts the tourists for its architectural style and altars.

The best time to visit the place is in the months from November to February as during this period the climate is pleasant and moderate, which will make you trip all the more exciting and enjoyable.
