Best Time to trek to Karla Caves– September to March
Towards south-east of Mumbai, beyond Lonavla – Khandala, in the Pune district, the Kamshet-Karla caves are located. These are 200 years older Buddhist caves. Located in Maharashtra state of India, the destination offers an impressive trek to explore the beauty of ancient Buddhist caves. Reach Kamshet station by local train from Pune or Lonavla. After that, catch a bus or jeep for Bedsa Village. A steep trail will make you reach the Bedsa hill from the Bedsa village. It will take 45 minutes. Now move towards Visapur and Lohagad Fort. The route will lead you to the Bhaja Fort from where a 10 minute walk will make you reach the Bhaja village. From there a twenty-minute will bring you to the Malavali station. The Bombay-Pune highway will eventually get you to Karla caves in about an hour and a half.
Though the trek is not that tough but it do requires some time, as there is lot you will come to know and see here. This ancient historic place has a lot to offer you. So, take out enough time to explore it all. Apart from Karla caves, the tourists will have great time explore the exquisite beauty of Sayadari hills and its spell binding surroundings.
