The most spectacular fort of the three-hilltop forts overlooking the pink city of Jaipur stands the Jaigarh Fort. The fort is erected over the peninsula, which is called as the Cheel ka Teela, the hill of eagles nestles in the Aravalli Range, also overlooks the Amber fort along with the Maota Lake in the royal Indian state of Rajasthan.
The fort was constructed in the year 1726 by Jai Singh 2 and the palace complex was named after him. The fort is structurally designed in such a way that it looks like a replica of the Amber Fort, which is more commonly known as the Victory Fort.
The Fort of Victory was constructed somewhere between 15th and 18th Century and still can be found in its original shape. The fort stands at an inaccessible point and one has to climb a steep road in order to reach at the main gate of the fort, which is called as Dungar Darwaza. This road, which leads to the fort, renders a mesmerizing natural panoramic view.
The walls of the fort are stretched to about 3 km and the fort used to be the center of artillery production of the Rajputs. It also houses top the Jaivan Cannon, the worlds largest canon on wheels.
In the precints of the fort there is also a 5 km long canal, which was used to bring in water from the towering hills and was stored in the fort for the army men. Jaigarh fort also served as the royal treasury of the Maharajas of Jaipur for a while.
The main attractions of the fort are Jaivan Cannon, Vijay Garh, Jaigarh Cannon Foundry, Diya Burj, Museums, Palace Complex, Lakshmi Vilas Palace that attracts the tourists.
